# Missing TikTok posts and country restrictions

A post can be missing from a creator's profile feed even when its individual URL still returns data. A TikTok web page can also be blocked in your country while the API retrieves its public metadata. Neither a missing feed item nor one failed lookup is enough to mark a post deleted.

This guide separates country restrictions from incomplete feed results. We have reproduced both. We do not have a definitive explanation for every feed omission.

## What to try

1. Keep known post URLs and IDs. Use [Video Info](/v2/tiktok/video) to refresh tracked posts instead of depending on the profile feed to rediscover them.
2. For discovery, paginate [Profile Videos](/v3/tiktok/profile/videos) with the returned `max_cursor`. Keep `region` and `sort_by` unchanged through that chain. Restart from the first page if you change them.
3. Try a relevant two-letter country code, such as the creator's country. This can help, but does not guarantee complete coverage. The default is `US`.
4. Retry a suspect page within a small request budget and deduplicate by `aweme_id`. Do not combine cursors from different responses. Retries are not a completeness guarantee and may incur the endpoint's normal credit cost, including successful empty results.
5. Keep the last known record after a failed lookup and retry later. Do not erase a campaign post because it disappeared from one feed response.

For Video Info, `region` is passed to the primary post source. Its existing fallback does not receive that parameter. It is not a guarantee of the country TikTok would show to a browser.

## Examples we verified

These are observations from **October 9, 2026**, not permanent promises about these posts. Availability and feed results can change.

### Country-blocked on the web, missing from the Canadian feed

[Harmony's post](https://www.tiktok.com/@harmonycurates/video/7690283851616226567):

- TikTok's US web page returned `cross_border_violation` and said the video was unavailable in that country or region. The Canadian page was readable.
- Video Info retrieved the exact post with `region=US`, `CA`, and `DE`.
- A Canadian profile-feed walk reached `has_more=false` without returning that post, despite returning adjacent posts.

The browser restriction was confirmed. The Canadian feed omission is a separate observation; it does not mean the post was deleted or prove that country selection fixes discovery.

### Identical German feed requests returned different posts

[Melpazi's post](https://www.tiktok.com/@melpazi/video/7679730149612408097):

- TikTok's US web page was country-blocked; the German page was readable.
- Video Info retrieved the exact post.
- Repeating the same German profile-feed request sometimes included the post and sometimes omitted it. The request used `handle=melpazi`, `region=DE`, `sort_by=latest`, and `max_cursor=1788349368975`.

This was not just a scraper stopping before it reached the post. The returned item sets differed for the same request. We have not established the upstream device, session, or locale decision behind those responses.

### Photo/slideshow comments are supported

[This public slideshow](https://www.tiktok.com/@motivate.yourself__/photo/7688359214636354819) returned photo metadata through Video Info and 9 comments with another page available through [Comments](/v1/tiktok/video/comments).

An empty result for another photo URL does not establish a blanket slideshow limitation. Pass the original `/photo/` URL; do not rewrite it to `/video/`.

Comments use a separate public source and do not expose a `region` or newest-first parameter. Follow the returned cursor, stop at `end_of_pagination=true`, and deduplicate by `cid`. The displayed total is not a guarantee that every comment will be retrievable.

## Excluding pinned posts

Use `include_pinned=false` on [Profile Videos](/v3/tiktok/profile/videos) to exclude posts marked as pinned. Omit it or set `include_pinned=true` to keep the existing behavior. This also works with `trim=true`.

```text
GET /v3/tiktok/profile/videos?handle=stoolpresidente&include_pinned=false
```

Keep `include_pinned` unchanged throughout a cursor chain. Filtering can leave a shorter or empty page without ending pagination: continue when `has_more` is true, using the returned `max_cursor`. Successful pages still cost 1 credit, including empty results. This option does not fix unrelated feed omissions.

## Other reports of missing items

In a [yt-dlp discussion about TikTok's native feed API](https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/issues/15348#issuecomment-3726545722), a user reported different coverage with different device IDs and missing items within returned pages:

> "If 10/15 were grabbed, it would be the first 5 missing."

That is a closer comparison than a scraper ending its crawl early. It is an independent report, not TikTok confirming the cause of our examples. A [project member suggested regional or licensing restrictions](https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/issues/15348#issuecomment-3726564210), but that remains a hypothesis.

Apify's [TikTok scraper input documentation](https://apify.com/clockworks/tiktok-scraper/input-schema) also describes its Proxy country option as useful for posts only available in a particular country. That supports country-specific availability, not complete profile-feed coverage.

## When to contact us

Send the exact post URL, endpoint, region, sort setting, cursor, and response showing the missing post. Include whether the post is readable in a logged-out browser and which country you tested. Do not include your API key.

These examples document observed limits, not a reason to dismiss a new report. We can investigate whether your case is a retrieval bug, a country restriction, or an upstream feed omission.
